Ayo Taveras is a Black, non-binary young person from Bushwick, Brooklyn. Having been born and raised in Bushwick, Ayo observed the gentrification their neighborhood underwent and has dedicated their work to fighting back. Ayo brings interests such as political theory, art, and organizing strategy to create campaigns that will further FIERCE’s initiatives to improve the shelter system, make sure community members have their basic needs met, and, eventually, ending homelessness in NYC.
